Canada-Ukraine Defence Industry Seminar DFNC1: Canadian Edition

The second Canadian-Ukrainian Defence Industry Seminar DFNC1: Canadian Edition was held in Kielce, Poland on 3 September 2024.

The event was opened by the Canadian Ambassador to Poland, Catherine Godin, and the Deputy Minister of Strategic Industries for European Integration, Serhiy Boyev.

In the first part of the seminar, the Ukrainian side presented the Ukrainian defence industry to the Canadian companies. They spoke about the pace of production capacity expansion and the innovative potential of the industries. Sergiy Boyev also spoke about achievements in global international projects.

"More than 100 companies from 24 countries have already joined the Alliance of Defence Industries, that was launched at the end of September 2023 as part of DFNC1. A fundraising among partner countries campaign called 'ZBROYARI: Manufacturing Freedom' raised $672 million for Ukrainian production of unmanned and robotic platforms. I thank Canada for being one of the first countries to join the project and for all the help you have provided to Ukraine since the beginning of the full-scale invasion," said Serhiy Boyev.

He also announced the next International Defence Industry Forum - DFNC Week - to be held in early October 2024.

During DFNC1: Canadian Edition, more than 150 B2B and B2G meetings were held between representatives of Ukrainian and Canadian defence companies. They discussed the launch of joint production, technology transfer and investment in the development of the Ukrainian defence industry.

The event was held as part of the implementation of the Ukrainian-Canadian Security Cooperation Agreement with a view to promoting bilateral defence industry partnership.
